TBF 100i Benchtop Hardness Tester

Item Description

The hardess testing procedure is a type of physical test, oftentimes performed together with the friability test in defining physical characteristic or integrity of a tablet. High hardness values generally depict longer disintegration and dissolution times, subesquently hampering the speed of drug delivery. However, low hardness values would usually result in highly friable tablets, giving rise to poor product stability and compromised dose uniformity. By determining the relationship between hardness, disintegration, dissolution and friability, dosage forms with optimum characteristics can be produced.

Chapters Ph. Eur. 2.9.8 Resistance to Crushing of Tablets and USP Chapter <1217>. Tablet Breaking Force describe standardised methods for the assessment of tablet hardness.
