Human Serum

Item Description

Human Serum, Type AB, is exclusively sourced from male donors with blood group AB. It is collected from healthy donors at FDA-licensed facilities in the USA.

Human Serum has been found to be particularly suitable for certain cell culture applications involving human cells. For instance, it has been shown to enhance cell culture behavior and improve spheroid formation, compared to Fetal Bovine Serum

Standard Features

Human AB serum in culture media provides human cell lines with an environment that closely resembles their physiological conditions, compared to growth media supplemented with animal sera. This is especially important in micro-optical investigations of cell structures or differentiation studies, where the goal is to draw conclusions about natural conditions in human tissue. As a result, human sera may be superior to animal sera for culturing sensitive human cell lines, such as macrophages or lymphocytes.

In addition to being used as an additive in cell culture media, Human Serum Type AB is also employed in control assays, immunoassays, clinical chemistry, and in vitro diagnostics. Due to its blood group characteristics, it does not contain anti-A or anti-B antibodies, which could otherwise damage human cells in culture or interfere with immunological investigations.
